Viola Arden

Viola Arden is an abstract artist.
I live and work in St. Petersburg.

My – work is an exploration of space, light, and inner motion. Through textures, transparent layers and rhythm of lines, I create images in which the feeling of silence and breathing is important.

I work mainly with acrylic on canvas, paying special attention to materials and color depth.
Resident of the gallery IZHI (St. Petersburg).

Artist Statement

My artistic practice focuses on exploring the space between an emotional experience and its visual embodiment.

My work develops in two complementary directions. One appeals to the intensity of color, free gesture, and dynamics, where painting becomes a trail of emotional impulse. My work explores minimalism, rhythm of lines, texture and emptiness as independent expressive categories. These approaches are not opposed to each other - they reflect different states of the same process of perception.

Working with acrylic, multilayered, texture and gesture rhythm, I strive to create works in which color, line and space exist as an independent language - a language that conveys something that cannot be expressed directly.
