The Joy of Being Here
The painting was exhibited at the group exhibition "Opening of the Institute of Living Art (ILI)", St. Petersburg, 2026.
This work was born out of a desire to turn an ordinary, almost ritual moment of rest into a tangible visual marker of calmness and presence. A burst of grape color, the fragility of a glass of wine and the strict geometry of a striped black and white vase in the space of the canvas are freed from chance and become signs of time dilation.
Rethinking the classic still life through the prism of modernist traditions, I built the composition on the dialogue of an active red-yellow background and large color planes. I consciously walked away from literal documentation and unnecessary detail in order to expose the very essence of the moment, convey the density of color and return to the viewer a scarce sense of inner silence and sensual perception of space.
