The Joy of Being Here
This work was born out of a desire to rethink the traditional image of the hearth and explore the aesthetics of everyday life through simple, understandable subjects. Rustic bread, branches with the first flowers and a striped jug in the space of the picture are freed from their everyday randomness and turn into symbols of warmth, stability and comfort.
Building the composition on the contrast of deep graphite-gray and warm golden background planes, I created my own expressive decorative language. I consciously walked away from the literal documentation and redundant details to expose the very essence of the — moment, to convey the man-made texture of the stroke, the rhythm of the lines, and to return the viewer to a sense of inner silence and conscious presence in the moment.
