The Geometry of Joy series

This miniature was born out of a desire to catch the feeling of absolute balance that can be found in the simplest things. Three ripe apples became the perfect color trio, personifying the pure joy and fullness of life.
To emphasize their juicy rounded shapes, I placed the fruit on a strict black and white chessboard. The contrast of living nature and clear geometric squares creates a powerful rhythmic field. A smooth background removes unnecessary noise, leaving the viewer alone with pure color energy, textured smear and a moment of steady rest.
